Once you have completed your CBT training in Emsworth your certificate will be valid for 2 years. If you carry on with your training and take a full motorcycle test then you will no longer need to renew your CBT. If you dont then you will need to retake your CBT every 2 years. This re-take is called an experienced CBT and some motorcycle training schools will list this as a separate course with different pricing. So if you are booking a CBT for the first time then make sure you book the right one.

What is a CBT?

For those that are unaware, we are more than happy to provide a brief education regarding CBT tests in Emsworth, and explain as to why they are so important. Having first been introduced in December 1990 by the government, the acronym stands for Compulsory Basic Training; the thought process behind its conception was to try and combat a rising number of accidents involving either motorcycles and mopeds. Not only this, but its aims also included improving the overall competency of those that rode two-wheeled vehicles. When you come to Book CBT Now, you will have the opportunity to browse through various test-taking opportunities across the country - if you would like to book your space now, we invite you to do so on our website.

How much is the cost of CBT compulsory basic training?

The price varies depending on which motorcycle training company you take your CBT test with, but in Emsworth or the closest towns of Havant, Waterlooville and Portsmouth will typically be between £140 and £180. Covid-19 has meant that many motorcycle training companies can only train on a 1 to 1 basis or 2 to 1 at most. This has meant many motorcycle training companies have had to increase their normal prices. There are four main things that affect the price:

  1.  Bike hire. Not all CBTs include the price of the bike hire so make sure you check if it is included in the price.
  2. Experienced or beginners CBT. If you've done your CBT before you can book an experienced CBT which usually costs less. This is because it will be shorter as you will already have been through all of the basics. Only do this if you have done at least 1 CBT and are confident riding your motorcycle or scooter.
  3.  Clothing and equipment hire. This includes your safety helmet, jacket, gloves and boots. Once again it may not be included in the price, so check first.
  4. Collision damage waiver. This is an insurance that will be offered to you before your training. It means that if you damage the motorcycle or scooter during your training then you will not have to pay for the repairs. It typically costs between £10 - £20 but is well worth having as repairs are much more than that.

Don't try to simply get the cheapest price, the quality of the training is the most important thing. Quality training will one day save your life.
